Hawaii's 'A' relay team, featuring Aziza Meyer, Zofia Tyminksa, Holly Nelson, and Quincy Key, claimed the top spot with a time of 1:37.04. UCSD and Hawaii were disqualified for false starts, but UCSB stepped up, touching in 1:37.69 to secure the title and the meet record. The women's 800 freestyle relay saw UCSD and Hawaii bounce back, with UCSD breaking the meet record in 7:11.42, and Asia Kozan leading the way with a massive season best time.
On the men's side, Hawaii dominated the 200 medley relay, touching in 1:24.48. Grand Canyon and UCSD followed closely behind. The men's 1-Meter diving finals saw Hawaii's Tamayo Ramirez take the top spot, just two points ahead of Grand Canyon's Omar Elsayed. The final event, the 4x200 freestyle relay, was a close race, with Hawaii winning by almost five seconds over UCSB.
The championship is shaping up to be an exciting battle, with UCSB women and Hawaii men leading the way after day one. The remaining events will determine the ultimate champions, and the competition is sure to intensify as the tournament progresses.
