Winter Storm Disrupts Air Travel: Syracuse Airport Affected
By Steve Billmyer
Syracuse, NY - A powerful winter storm has caused significant disruptions at Syracuse's airport, with nearly half of all flights canceled on Sunday morning. As of 7:30 a.m., 21 out of 48 departing flights and 18 out of 38 arriving flights were grounded. This follows a similar pattern across the country, where over 4,000 flights have been canceled nationwide, according to Reuters.
Upstate New York is bracing for a significant snowfall, with the National Weather Service predicting 1 to 2 feet of snow through Monday morning. The snow is expected to be most intense today, with potential for 12 inches or more in 12 hours. This storm is one of the strongest in recent years and has already caused power outages for thousands in the South.
As the storm continues to impact travel and infrastructure, Governor Hochul has taken proactive measures, restricting travel and deploying the National Guard. Residents and travelers are advised to stay informed and take necessary precautions.
